About Loaf Catering
Loaf was founded in 2009 by Richard Fitzgerald. Having worked in the family hotel, the famous Woodlands House Hotel in Adare, and the retail sector for many years, Richard saw a niche to provide top quality food for the catering sector.
Using only the best of ingredients, flexible menu options and a service that includes all aspects from serving to wash up, Loaf catering has grown solidly since its inception. Richard attended the Ballymaloe Cookery School and this has shaped his own food ethos.
About Loaf Artisan Bakery:
Fitzgerald’s Loaf Artisan Bakery was founded in 2009 providing tarts, cakes and personal treats to the Limerick market. Loaf’s philosophy is to use the freshest ingredients and to prepare them in the old fashioned way. Loaf prides itself in the use of real Irish butter in the production of its cakes and tarts. Loaf started wholesaling cakes to 8 shops initially in 2009 and now supplies over 30 shops covering Limerick City and County, parts of Cork, Clare and Tipperary. Loaf’s sales have tripled in this time period.
An introduction to the owner:
I was born into the hospitality industry and worked in the family business from a very early age. I completed a Batchelor of Business Studies at the University of Limerick. From there I went to join the retail trade working with the SuperValu group in Cork.
It was here I saw an opening for gourmet tarts, cakes and treats and a move away from the processed bakery items of the larger suppliers. After I left the SuperValu group I attended the Ballymaloe Cookery School for 3 months where I developed and perfected my recipes. I then went to work for myself and Loaf was born. Since I’ve been in business I’ve attended the Enterprise board supported Food producers course in conjunction with Bullseye Marketing.
